Camp Croix needs YOU, volunteer for a week this summer!

Volunteer a week
for a lifetime of impact

Camp Croix exists and operates because of people who are passionate about giving their time, talents, and treasures to camp. Camp has been blessed the past several years with tremendous growth, which means we have plenty of opportunities for you to be involved!

Whether you want to work with children, do maintenance, cook, lifeguard, serve as medical staff, or serve on a committee at camp, we’d love to have you! It doesn’t matter if you have an hour, day, week, month, or an entire year to give… your time and talents will be greatly appreciated!

Youth Bible Camp or STRIVE Teen Camp Staff

Join us for 1 week during one of our youth or teen camps in June, July, and August. We need a support staff of directors, deans, cooks, lifeguards, maintenance support, counselors, and medical staff. The dates you serve depends on the program you choose. If you have children attending camp one of the sessions, come enjoy camp with them for the week! As a thank you for your work of volunteering, we cover all costs of room and board at Camp Croix. If parents volunteer for a session at camp, that family will receive one free camper registration!

What is it like to volunteer?

  • Most of our counselors stay with their fellow counselors in the cabins near the campers. Adult volunteers usually get a room in the lodge. Some volunteers even bring their own RV or travel trailer to stay in for the week. The medical staff member stays in the Red Cross Cabin as it is best suited to care for any campers in need.

  • Everyone is extremely well fed at camp! We have 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. Staff members also have access to a leftover fridge, so there is never a shortage of food! If you’d like, you can also bring your own snacks and beverages and keep them in the summer kitchen.

  • A regular camp day has wake up call at 7am and we usually end our night staff meeting around 11pm. Depending on the activities you sign up for, the hours you have responsibility can vary quite a bit. There is always down time to have some fun with the kids, or get some R&R at camp.

  • We will give you all the training you need! All volunteers are required to attend training the day before a session of camp starts, so we can be ready to go when the kids arrive. No prior experience necessary!

  • No experience necessary! We have a required training day before each session that should give you all the tools you need to be a successful camp volunteer. Whatever your skill set, we can use you at camp!

  • If you have camper aged children and volunteer, you qualify to have a free registration. Limit 1 per family. If you have children that are too young to attend (we call them tagalongs), you can denote it on your application. We will work with you to see how you can bring your tagalongs with and still be a volunteer at camp!

  • We ask that all applicants for Youth Bible Camp be going into 11th grade the next fall or older. While those a grade lower can apply, our policy for staff selection is that we use those going into 10th grade only when necessary to fill each session with enough counselors. Those going into 10th grade the next fall are encouraged to attend STRIVE Teen Camp to stay connected to Camp Croix. They won’t regret it! Other than that, all ages are welcome!

What will I do if I serve…?

  • You and at least one other person are in charge of 10 campers in your squad during activities. You also will sign up to lead or help with different activities throughout the day, like fishing, craft, dance and more. Finally, you are assigned a home cabin to do circle time, bedtime, and wake up call each day!

  • You are in charge of certain activities that you sign up for throughout the day. A few examples are serving snack, crafts, low ropes course, fishing, canoeing, nature, crafts, or swim time helper

  • You are an overseer of the counselors, ensuring that they are where they’re supposed to be, and helping the counselors with any difficult situations that can arise among their campers.

  • You are the overseer of the whole camp, making sure things are running smoothly. You keep the schedule, make announcements to the whole camp, and help where needed.

  • You and at least one other person are overseers of swim time and canoeing, which happen Monday-Friday. Most often, you serve as a counselor or adult volunteer as well. Current certifications required.

  • You administer medications and deal with any sicknesses or injuries that may occur. Current medical certification required. Contact us for a full job description.

  • You and at least two others make the meals for up to 150 people everyday. The Food Service Director prepares the menu, orders the food, and creates a step by step manual for you to follow as you and the other cooks make the delicious meals!

  • You and at least two other people fix anything that may be broken, and do general upkeep of the property. You help run a service project with the campers every morning.
